Should I fire her? And if so, What do I say?

@buckeye_momof4 lol that’s nuts! I’ve had to deal with the dept of taxation and finance and that gave me an ulcer. I can’t imagine dealing with the AG’s office! Glad that turned out well for you :)

    Got my first gig!

@vantai324 Still a contract isn’t going to help him unless he’s willing to sue. A contract is basically I’m charging X dollars for this job and payment is due on Y date and if not Z fees apply legal fees to be paid by customer. Both parties sign and date.

Should I fire her? And if so, What do I say?

@buckeye_momof4 Yeah it's a weird system, at will. Watch out, I had someone file almost a year after termination.

Should I fire her? And if so, What do I say?

@buckeye_momof4 NY is at will to, but it’s a good idea to do the write up process before termination and also to have a employee handbook with rules. Why? Unemployment payments.

Starting a cleaning company in Minnesota. Need a catchy name

@pastorpontibus Well I’m not a professional name creator, but I’d keep location and your name out of a company name.

Am I overbidding or underbidding for my first cleaning account??

@christian39 hmm I thought those things didn't hold up in court? lol I'm probably making it sound harder than it is, but I've been doing it for a while. It's like me reading those AI sweatystartup posts lol I think there's more than one. There some that will get you leads too. I tried one of...

Am I overbidding or underbidding for my first cleaning account??

@christian39 You don't have to have experience, but obviously it helps :) It would be a great learning experience all around. Just educate yourself on the procedures and processes so you don't end up liable for damaging anything :) 2-3 days a week is hard when they're schedule doesn't mimic...

Am I overbidding or underbidding for my first cleaning account??

@christian39 It's, really, really, really hard to do pricing without being on site and knowing your market. It's one of those things you have to figure out yourself and I know it's the hardest part of landing contracts. You have a bit of built in cushioning though if I read right as you'll only...

How do I hire people for a cleaning account?

@st24769 It's been discussed here a ton if you want to search it. The IRS determines this. Basically subs are autonomous, you have no control over them, they have their own insurance, tools and pay their own taxes. Employees you have control over, you provide their tools and equipment...

How do I hire people for a cleaning account?

@st24769 It’s the same process when you were hired for the job. You need to open a bank account, get a EIN from the IRS, place an ad to hire people and interview those that respond. You’ll need workers comp, disability and liability insurance. Don’t forget to calculate all those expenses into...

Am I overbidding or underbidding for my first cleaning account??

@christian39 It’s the type of store we’re customers walk in to drop off packages? Usually those get a lot of foot traffic and take a while to vacuum. What are you sanitizing? Windows with a squeegee are pretty quick. How many are there? Those 2-3 days a week accounts are PITA, but you gotta...

Getting leads - no idea how to price them

@artless_ascetic I understand and you're in a predicament. Pretty sure we've all taken less money then we should have. You could always take a job with the stipulation that your prices are based on 'average' soil conditions and additional charges may apply if they aren't.

Getting leads - no idea how to price them

@artless_ascetic Sorry I didn’t mean you specifically, I was wondering in general as sq’ is used often here. There’s 2 other methods. 1 is production rates which assigns a time to a task and 2 is estimating the time it takes. I use the last method by doing a walk through and estimate how long...

Getting leads - no idea how to price them

@artless_ascetic I don’t understand the sq’ principal. An oven, fridge, cupboard with multiple shelves, a shelving unit, badly soiled shower does not work out with sq’

    Basic Floor Care Pricing Advice

@fudge That would be no fun mopping 15,000 sq’. I’d get a auto scrubber for that. As for pricing I don’t know that market, but it’s commonly done in the $00.50 - $1.25 per sq’ pricing range.
