Paul Graham getting cooked by British and Africans on twitter because he thinks 'Delve' is a big word that only ChatGPT uses

The problem this shows is that the vocabulary of Americans may be extremely limited. Britain, as well as the countries that were colonised by them use these words daily. Now, imagine using the word 'delve' or 'burgeoning' in your YC application and you immediately get rejected because you're...

    Over 60% AI and over 70% B2B/SAAS for S23

@mmmagana Yes, I can see that most are linked to OpenAI (which is also backed by YC) so they’re probably trying to create a network of some sort. However, I really wonder how many of them will get actual PMF. There are so many tasks that can already be done with ChatGPT & Bard. Like the...

    Over 60% AI and over 70% B2B/SAAS for S23

Very interesting stats for the present S23 batch. I guess your chances to get in are significantly higher if your startup business model leans towards these. https://preview.redd.it/2vdxkb420jfb1.png?width=1144&format=png&auto=webp&s=7693fc6602a43418d27bd0504e8697a023996f47

Anyone thought of how AI will disrupt consumer marketplace startups?

I've seen some really cool AI consumer startups Reference: This post on YC (W24) AI consumer startups However, I Marketplace Startups like DoorDash, InstaCart & Airbnb have always been the major disruptors of consumer behaviour - These ones require human interaction so I'm always wondering...

Our Y Combinator interviewers were awesome. Us — not so much. Here are 3 things I wish I'd done better

@xwarli What do you mean by "how we would pivot?". They didn't like your first idea and wanted you to pivot to another one. Or did they want a strategy plan on pivoting?

Anyone know why YC/Garry Tan/ Paul Graham decided to side line Alexis Ohanian (co-founder of reddit)?

@heartsrose74 Are you assuming that this is how it works? This is a very detailed explanation.

    HELP I have 2 startups

@bibleexploreriii Apply with one company and say that you are 'hands-off' on the other one. Maybe the CMO or whoever will be running it

W24 applications view first by 3 alumni then by 4 advisors, and then?

@dmtboi Are you sure it's viewed by 2 alumni? How accurate is this info?

Anyone know why YC/Garry Tan/ Paul Graham decided to side line Alexis Ohanian (co-founder of reddit)?

@sarahjones7 I think Garry still has some dealings with Initialised, but he probably had to take a back seat because he was appointed the President of YC. Remember, YC's mantra is to always go full-time on your work/ideas, so I doubt it looked good that he was running both VC firms at the same...

How to handle working at a startup when leadership plans do not make sense to me

@quaythuxsmb If you no longer believe in the company/vision, or it's no longer what it used to be, why not quit? Unless you're very passionate about the problem being solved, I don't see why you should remain in an environment that gets you agitated.

Will this intro video work for YC application instead of the format they request?

@hodor It's a good video, but the reason why they ask for human intro videos is because they want to get to know the founders. It's like a "vibe check" and also a way to explain the product that you are so passionate about. What you just showed is more like a "sub-demo" or a marketing video...

    Advice on unconventional potential cofounder

@carlo1 Honestly, I think it would be a great experience to build with him. I can imagine a college student in Stanford would probably be hesitant about starting a company with you too. To you, he is unconventional and to him you are probably an unconventional partner as well. An unconventional...

Anyone know why YC/Garry Tan/ Paul Graham decided to side line Alexis Ohanian (co-founder of reddit)?

@jesuspleasesaveme Yeah, I just saw a tweet about him founding a new VC firm - SevenSevenSix. Seems like Garry wasn't pleased about that.

Anyone know why YC/Garry Tan/ Paul Graham decided to side line Alexis Ohanian (co-founder of reddit)?

@jesuspleasesaveme Go through Alexis' thread on Twitter. His replies to some tweets indicate that something is going on but he won't disclose the info.

Anyone know why YC/Garry Tan/ Paul Graham decided to side line Alexis Ohanian (co-founder of reddit)?

Reddit IPO'd yesterday and there have been many talks about this. One that caught people's eye is how Initialised Capital (a VC firm founded by Garry and Alexis) has decided to erase all traces of Alexis' involvement in the firm, considering he founded it with Garry. I also noticed that Paul...
