Should I fire her? And if so, What do I say?

@kabriana My initial thought was "Oh shit, this is gonna suck." Massachusetts has some unique employment laws such as When someone is terminated, they must receive their paycheck on their final day of employment. This was the issue. My ex-employee was in possession of my company's assets...

Should I fire her? And if so, What do I say?

@kabriana Ha. What I said to the investigator actually came out all wrong. I said "Do you know how my company is?" She said I don't care who you are and I immediately realized how bad it sounded. So I apologized for how it sounded and restarted the question as "You have no idea who my company...

@kabriana I had an unstable former employee file with our AG's office. That was a lot of fun. 🤦

Should I fire her? And if so, What do I say?

@kabriana I agree. Personally, I only would have challenged 2 people from receiving UI for insubordination action and theft. Interestingly, neither applied for benefits. I had a reason to deny anyone else from receiving benefits.

LLC, elected to file as an S-Corp don’t know what I’m doing with taxes

@jack1998 Ask the CPA who you hire which he recommends for your type of business and why. The state where you registered your S Corp, the Secretary of State's website should have a Conversion Form to convert from S to LLC and you pay a fee.

@christianfrend Louisiana is an At Will employement state. You can make this real simple. Call her up and say: I am terminating your employment with our company and want to save you a trip to the office. If she asks why: Based on my observations and from our customers' feedback, we need to...

How can I stop my failing small biz from making me depressed all the time?

@keldastar If you use the auto setting and adjust the shutter speed your indoor pictures should come out fine. A speed under 1,000 should make a big There's probably a back lite setting as well and an image stabilizer.

How can I stop my failing small biz from making me depressed all the time?

@keldastar What is the product your selling? DM me if you'd like. What type of camera are you using? I've taken photos using both a Canon EOS 35MM (7Ti) and a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. They key is a mini tripod, decent lighting (doesn't have to be great) and an appropriate colored backdrop.

How can I stop my failing small biz from making me depressed all the time?

@keldastar I can't give much advice without knowing what you sell or how you market it. I do know this: It's simple & inexpensive to take high quality photos Marketing is how you make sales. Discounting 50% is not. If you discount 100% but your marketing sucks, you will sell nothing. The...

Can I clean my apartment building common spaces for money?

@bwo Your rate should be closer to $30/hour to cover the cost of cleaning supplies. You may have to establish a business and carry general liability insurance. 6-8 hours over 5 days is probably reasonable. I would expect the building owners to want to pay you so they can deduct the business...

Need help and advice on a new startup im doing

@truthbeliever7 Thx. I like where you're going with this. Maybe the solution is Stay "local" and provide a "turnkey" service to F&B to source employees, pre-screen them, then turn them over to client for final interview & hiring. You can also add-on the onboarding new hire paper work. F&B...

    Concern for sister’s startup

@thomashop I would openly wish your sister well, let her know your rooting for her success and keep a distance. Your relationship with your sister And parents depend on this. The only 'nugget' worth dropping on her as a 'suggestion' is the SBA Mentor program. It's free. Your sister would...

@telsa Although I worked on Hospitality/F&B many years ago, I know some restaurant owners ( a couple of pizza places & breakfast & lunch place) and know a little bit about the industry. 1)F&B, and to a lesser extent Hospitality, are "old school". Waiters, bussers, kitchen staff etc. can walk...
