I have seen people in India using "incubator" more than the word "accelerator", and most of these incubators are located inside college/universities (e.g., IITs). Of course, all of them are funded by Government of India (for example, MEITY or BIRAC), or internal funds if it is a rich IIT, like KGP. But I am not sure if there are any good private accelerators. Anyway, my experience is very limited in this area; I would be interested to know what good or bad you people think of accelerator culture in India.
Are there any YC equivalents of India? What about NASSCOM? I see in news reports that Ratan Tata or similar big guys investing privately in some startups. However, I don't know how such things work. Is it all about personal connections, or is there a few well known platforms for the general masses as well?
