1. Find products that have demands in the global market.​


Finding products that have demand in the global market is one of the most crucial steps in your export business because you need to get repeat orders for your products.

Find a product to export

You can find these products at www.commerce.gov.in Indian government updates the products which is exported from India every month.

On the website, you can go to trade statistics and you will find the data on what products were exported from India and a lot more other data which will be useful for your export business.

Comparing November 2023 to November 2023 there was an increase of 2207.38% increase in the export in iron ore exports. So it is clear that iron ore has clear demand in the global market.

But finding the product is also not enough you will need to source the products at the correct price so that you can sell it for a profit and can compete with other exporters.

2. How to Source a product to export?​


Finding the manufacturer and sourcing directly from is the best way to source the product as there will be no middleman and you will get the product at a good price if you do good business maybe in the future you will be able to get a credit line from them.

But you will need to check it is export quality and that the quality is consistent because without these two things, you will not get any repeat orders and repeat order is the backbone of any business.

To find the manufacturer you can use online directories, go to trade fairs, and websites like India Mart, Trade India, Exporters India, etc.

Also, you can visit your Local industries office and collect data on the industries around you.

3. How to find customers for your products to export?​


Google Search: To find your first customer a simple Google search for trading companies in which country you want to export will fetch you 100+ results. For example: if you want to export vegetables to the UAE you can just search Vegetable trading companies in the UAE and you can send a mail or contact them.

Trade Shows and Exhibitions: Participate in international trade shows and exhibitions related to your industry. These events attract a wide range of international buyers, allowing you to showcase your products directly to potential customers. Network builds connections and gather leads.

Lead Generation Platforms: There are a lot of lead generation websites where you can find customer details and contact them directly. some of the websites are Hunter.io, Lusha, Zoominfo, Indian Business Portal

There are other ways to find the customer you have to work on each and fine-tune your customer acquisition strategy in which way you are getting more conversation.

3. Licenses needed for your export business​


Before starting your export business you need to have some basic licenses to start your business up and running.

First, you want to decide what type of business yours would be. A sole proprietor, partnership firm, or company. Also, you will need to have a name and logo for your business.

Then you need to open a current account with a bank that has the authorization to deal in foreign exchange.

Obtain your Permanent Account Number(PAN) every exporter and importer must obtain a PAN from the Income Tax Department

Get your IEC(Importer Exporter Code) which is also a must for every exporter and importer with only Rs.500/- you can obtain the IEC from this link: https://dgft.gov.in/

To get authorization to import/export or any benefits or concession you need to have an RCMC (Registration cum Membership Certificate).
