How to have more time (just like Elon Musk)

You, my fellow human, are great at doing work.

You get up in the morning. You go to work. You have all your productivity systems and time management rules in place. You get shit done.

So why isn’t it as easy to have more time?

Well, it is!

It's called delegation.

How Elon Musk Has Time To Run Like 5 Companies

Delegation is a skill used by the best and brightest people to leverage the one thing that is finite: Time. People like Elon Musk and Steve Jobs focused their energy on the stuff that is important. And delegate everything else to achieve the greatness that they have.

So, how does it work?

Simple: Aim🎯. Rocket🚀. Mars🪐.

To delegate like Elon, you have to write a quick memo, record a voice note, or have a 5-minute meeting to clarify 🎯🚀🪐 to your assistant.

Aim🎯 (what's the goal?)

What do you want to be done?

What is your aim for completion?

Why are we doing this?

When are we starting?

What are the milestones?

When is the final deadline?

What happens if this goes well/poorly?

Rocket🚀 (that will get you to Mars🪐)

Think: What are the resources needed to complete this task?

Expertise: "how to do X"

Manpower: "who needs to do what"

Systems/checklists

Decision-making guidelines

Approvals/authority

Hours allocated

Space: "where to do and where to save/store"

Access: keys and passwords

Mars🪐 (I know this is Pluto, not Mars🤪)

What does success look like?

A picture paints a thousand words.

Anything that shows your assistant what the end product should look like. A screenshot, a video, a link. Get creative.

Specs: what specs does the finished task have? Who checked it?

Sign-offs: who needs to sign this off?

Save: In which folder/drive should it be saved?

That's it. It will take a bit of time to get used to. But the best thing is, once you defined the 🎯🚀🪐, you will never have to do that draining task again.

Now, the only thing you have to do is find someone you can delegate it to.
