IMO certain extension / app-marketplaces are undeserved. Good opportunity for a productized service? Good opportunities in general?

I'm considering launching a new productized service, I have built a landing page, but I'm not entirely sure whether I should go for it. Before I get into that, let me explain a bit.

Recently, I published an Adobe Express addon for a non-commercial side-project. It brought a fair amount of traffic and new users. Since then, I've become curious about other 3rd-party app / addon marketplaces, particularly new or underserved ones (at least in my view).

Some platforms have super well established addon marketplaces. You're probably all well aware of the masses of extensions for Shopify and Wordpress. Meanwhile, others, such as Stripe app marketplace (https://marketplace.stripe.com/) only features 145 apps!

🛍️ Shopify has 4.4 million stores, and it has more than 8000 apps... that compares with 2.84 million websites that use Stripe. Yes, I know the comparison isn't perfect. Shopify does a different job to Stripe. Still, the app marketplace seems massively underserved.

Webflow, with 3.5m users (including brands e.g. PWC, Monday, Discord, TED) has 125 apps on its marketplace (https://webflow.com/apps). To publish on Webflow, you need to sign up and partner with them. From what I can see though, the requirements aren't onerous. There are apps published by solo developers. They are clearly open for business, just so long as their app store isn't flooded with junk.

Even in cases where there are 1000s of entries, there are often categories that are relatively untouched. In my opinion these app marketplaces represent fairly high value real estate. If a platform's userbase matches well with the audience you're trying to serve, publishing an addon could indeed be a better investment than rising to the surface of the mess that are search engine results these days.

My guess is that software companies are too focused on their core product to go on side-quests building addons for platforms that each have their different capabilities and requirements.

That's why I'm considering launching a productized service to develop and publish addons for existing products. This is the landing page I've put together - https://addonmastery.com/ - any thoughts and feedback on the landing page would be appreciated.

Landing page/idea feedback aside, what are your thoughts about developing addons/extensions? Is it worth it? Why don't more startups target existing platforms as a way to attract users?

Also your idea gave me an idea

People want to develop solutions but don’t have the partnerships etc

So a service help them publish them , they can just focus on developing the extensions
