Hi All,
I'm building Rassa - a platform built for people who want to develop their creative skills/hobbies and potentially turn them into a side hustle/business.
Why?
I've always had an interest in creative/craft skills (coming from someone who used to make and sell soap at markets and online) but when it comes to the professional support - skill building and helping you launch your own business - the options out there are nowhere near the standard you see for tech (developing tech skills/launching a tech startup). I want to give the person who works alone in their workshop the support they need to get their creations in front of more people.
How does it work?
Two options:
6-week program aimed at helping you develop a specific skill/technique.
When you sign up - we send out a box of specialist tools and ingredients aimed at getting you creating while you're a part of the program. After you join the platform, you're placed into small 'learning groups' where you'll share ideas and bounce ideas off of one another. The platform is built to help you learn together as opposed to within a silo.
Each week you're given a set of tasks to complete that you'll be able to submit to your teachers for feedback during live sessions, with the end goal being that you'll develop a handful of your own creations by the end of the program (recipes, garments, perfumes etc).
12-month program aimed at helping you launch your creative business/side hustle
Similar format to above but focused on the skills needed to launch a business. You'll also be assigned a mentor matched to you based on your stage and needs - and you'll have regular check-ins as you progress through the program.
How far along are we?
We've just finished our private beta (we onboarded our first 50 paying customers (@$200 p/m) and we're launching to the next 250 next month. We're onboarding from our waitlist of just over 3k.
How big is this?
50% of Americans have some sort of side hustle - granted lots of those will include things like doing deliveries, buying, and selling, etc - but the market for online creative skills (like cooking, fashion design, etc.) is estimated at $70bn and growing at 15% a year.
