Read the news about Bret Taylor's new company Sierra AI and couldn't help but think that it shares some similarities to Talkbin.
Talkbin's original idea was to allow customers to message business owners directly with requests about their product or anything else. It was meant to be a quick way for users to give feedback, but it flopped after Google acquired it, mainly because of low usage. My hypothesis is that the vast majority of people didn't see the point in using it or weren't getting their requests solved in the first place.
Now enter the world of AI, where models trained on business data can answer pretty much any question an user might have and with 100% availability. That might've been the thing that was missing from Talkbin. I think this just goes to show that while some ideas are good, they might lack the necessary technology to truly gain momentum and succeed.
