Hello All

I have a business in State of Virginia and planning on hiring only one employee. Where would I need to submit these documents once my employee fills it out the following forms : 1. I-9 Employment Eligibility Form

2. W-4 Federal Tax Withholding Form

3. VA-4 Virginia State Tax Withholding Form

4. Disability Self-Identification Form

Also - are there any other documents which are required that I need to send to Federal and State Governments in relates to Virginia employees?

@lolu Our system calculates payroll, prints checks and spits out reports that I use to make the tax deposit every payroll and quarterly federal 941 and state unemployment tax reports.

@lolu You dont have to send those form anywhere, they are for your records. The I-9 see instructions https://www.uscis.gov/i-9

The W-4 is filled out by the employee so that the employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from the paychecks. You keep them for your records, every employee must fill one out when they are first hired. Page 2 - purpose of the form

VA-4 Virginia State Tax Withholding Form , again for your payroll records withholding the correct State Tas

Use this form to notify your employer whether you are subject to Virginia income tax withholding and how many exemptions you are allowed to claim. You must file this form with your employer when your employment begins. If you do not file this form, your employer must withhold Virginia income tax as if you had no exemptions.

Disability Self-Identification Form - for your records -if an employee has a disability you must make accommodations as per as Defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act

I would not recommend payroll core I had it, dont like For payroll I have 4 employees in construction and I just signed up with them for the basic but they do have Managed Payroll Service, you do the paycheck and they handle all the taxes for you. .

Its free for 3 months which gives you plenty of time to practice and get familiar with the system.

I am not sure if Viriginia is the same but in NY besides the Fed tax ID we have the unemployment id and you need to know your Unemployment rate.

They also have a paycheck calculator

VA site to register for online account

EFPTS if you want to sign up for fed withholding taxes - they are using IDme

Another thing we have in NYS is workers comp, not sure if that applies to VA and audits. I handle my own taxes and audits. And yes I learned on own on quickbooks desktop the moment I fired the bookkeeper for making a $25k mistake, telling me we had $25k extra when she did not account the sub payment.

In my experience the more you know the better off you are.
