TV Mounting: $60,000+ Profit/Year. How Can Leverage My Know-How?

@h4wk Thanks for sharing. Did you sell the mounts or did you simply install what the customer had? If so what kind and where did you source?
What kind of insurance did you have??

@doema I sell the mounts. I buy refurbished from Mounting Dream or brand new from Walmart (Onn). These are the best I've found. I charge double the price I pay. You can't do bulk orders of Onn but Walmart always has good discounts.

I have liability insurance, costs around $40/m

@h4wk Onn are really good. Ive put in a weirdly large number of wall mounts and Onn are good.

Wish i could remember the brand that came with a combo level/stud finder about half the size of a pager. I still use it! Best stud finder i have used that didnt cost 100$+

@johnc1953 Thanks! Yes, I built the app myself. The thing that was taking most of my time after all the other automations implemented was communication with the team. The app is very specific. It solves all the problems I had and it got even better with feedback from the TV installers.

@h4wk Nice maybe you could leverage your knowledge of building apps like these for other tv installer companies or home service businesses 🤝

@brendaah Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. I’m curious too.

Maybe it was the unsolicited, possibly thinly veiled attempt at asking for a job? lol

@rupertc My business works well because I build trust with my #1 employee. I feel a like franchise could "hurt" the brand. We have really good Google reviews. I'd need to find trustworthy people and that's complicated to do remotely.

But still, a great suggestion. I will do my research on the subject. Especially on how to price what I already have and how to market it to people interested in starting a tv mounting business.

@h4wk A franchise is a model where you license your brand and IP, and ideally sell the core goods needed to operate the business day to day, and somebody else runs that location.

You have all the ingredients. People will pay for access to your installation knowledge base, and you can even sell required certification courses. You can sell the installation hardware, and even eventually make your own. If your ads are good enough you can charge for that service as well.

Whoever signs up for a franchise is responsible for building trust with employees, not you. But with that said, choosing the right franchisee would be important and you would have control over that.

@h4wk Love the $800 ad spend in month one. Did the same thing 10 years ago. Have to treat it as an investment. Ot an expense. Congrats!

@mx83 Thank you!

My plan was to pay between $500 to $1000 for 3 months to see what happened. But never had to put another dime besides the first $800 that wasn't directly earned from mounting TV's.

I was very fortunate with this.

@h4wk Could you find some contractors in nearby cities, flip new google ads to those cities and then hand out the business to your new guys, scale up a city at a time?

@h4wk You have the man power, the transportation and the tools you could move into furniture building. People who order flat packed furniture and don't have the skills or the abilities (seniors) to put together something like that anymore.
